My Reaction to Manchester City vs Huddersfield Town – Sunday 7th January 2024

Man City vs Huddersfield

Manchester City started the new year with a bang, as we cruised through the first match of 2024 with an easy win against Championship side Huddersfield Town in the FA Cup. Considering the difference in quality between the two teams, it was expected to be an easy win anyway. I do not mean any disrespect to Huddersfield Town, but when they are struggling in the Championship, sitting fourth from the bottom and are away from home and facing the world champions I cant see any other outcome.

City took control of the game from the start, and it wasn’t long before we opened the scoring. Goals from Phil Foden and Julian Alvarez in the first half set the tone for the rest of the match. In the second half, Oscar Bobb’s cross was deflected into the net, and Foden added another goal to his name, capping off a phenomenal performance. Kevin De Bruyne set up Doku for the scoresheet. It was a well-deserved win for City.

The standout player for me was Phil Foden, who was officially awarded the man of the match. Foden had a spectacular game, showing his talent and skill throughout. But the highlight of the match for many fans, including myself, was the return of King Kevin De Bruyne. The Belgian midfielder has been out for several months due to injury, and to see him back on the pitch and assisting a goal was a moment of pure happiness. The reception De Bruyne received from the crowd was heartwarming and a testament to his importance to the team.

With the draw for the fourth round of the FA Cup scheduled for tomorrow, I am already looking forward to who City will be facing next. I am hoping that we draw Bolton, Newcastle or Leeds. Leeds or Newcastle purely because both are fantastic away days and Bolton because it’s local and they have a big away end so it would be a great away day.

Anyway, next up for City is Newcastle United away! So to whoever is heading up there at the weekend, have a great day!
