My Reaction to Manchester City vs Newcastle United – Sunday 20th August 2023

Here is my reaction to Manchester City vs Newcastle United…

Before the match there was a lot of negativity surrounding it over on social media, with some key players missing, a lot of people was saying we would get battered, and although I predicted 2-0 City I have to be honest even I had a bad feeling about it, I thought we were going to drop points. I mean Newcastle United went into this match off the back of a 5-1 win over Aston Villa on their season opener last week, and we came into this after a 3-0 win away at Burnley and with also beating Sevilla on penalties in Greece in the UEFA Super Cup, but this was also our first home match of the season so this is where I felt really confidant, the home advantage.

I do feel that we controlled the match really well with possession and we created some good chances and it was Julian Alvarez that gave us the lead that would also give us a well earned victory over Newcastle United.
Phil Foden was brilliant from start to finish, His movement was something else. Mateo Kovacic seems to have adapted to Peps style of player already, I think he is going to do really well at City and Josko Gvardiol was also superb.

I think Newcastle United did give us a proper game of football though, I know some will disagree with that but they did play well, although I think Gordon should have walked in my opinion I think Newcastle United played well. and I think in their own time, they will rule the roost in football, they are not ready yet but in five, maybe six years they will start winning everything.

Next up is Sheffield United away which I think we will breeze that 4-0 and then we are at home to Fulham. I wont be going to Sheffield United but I will be at home to Fulham.

Have a great week ahead all.
